Game Programming Tricks of the Trade

Game Programming Tricks of the Trade

Game Programming Tricks of the Trade was a compilation book covering a variety of topics in game development. My contribution was a chapter called “Using the UML in Game Development”, which walked through how to use the Unified Modeling Language as a basis for mapping gameplay design and the software architecture to support it.

Since space was limited to less than 30 pages for the chapter, Pong was used as the example game. The chapter walks through designing the static and dynamic designs for Pong, with the UML as the documentation basis.
