Beginning OpenGL Game Programming is a condensed rewrite of OpenGL Game Programming. While OGLGP included additional information, such as DirectX Input, Windows setup, and more beyond the normal OpenGL programming, BOGLGP brings the focus back to OpenGL and revises the OpenGL API to 2.0, including an introduction to shaders and GPU programming. It assumes basic C/C++ knowledge, steps through the basics of the 3D graphics pipeline, and then walks through the OpenGL API.
Like OGLGP, every chapter includes at least one major code example to demonstrate use of the OpenGL APIs. At the end of the book a full 3D chess game is developed to demonstrate the techniques.
Also like OGLGP, in the first 6 months of BOGLGP’s publication it was listed in the top 100 of all books on Amazon.
